The 15 year old single malt scotch whisky is matured in a high proportion of American oak casks with a small portion of European oak casks to balance the liquid. A cautious start with soft hints of melon and summer citrus fruit, opening up to reveal firm waxy notes and rich floral aromas; a whole garden of geraniums and roses. Later, warming spices develop into appetizing cinnamon and ginger-spiced biscuits. At first, layers of ripe melon fruit and zesty orange-oil freshness fuse with sultanas and spiced biscuits; then it all becomes much richer with crystallized ginger and ginger biscuits coated in an exquisite chocolate creaminess with hints of vanilla. Medium length finish, and beautifully rounded. Rich choux pastry with cooling thick cream; late toasted notes and dry cocoa powder sprinkled on a bitter chocolate tart. Finally, all that richness builds to a gloriously warming conclusion.
